Warner Bros. a lansat trailerul superproducției „Godzilla vs. Kong”, care va avea premiera pe marile ecrane pe 26 martie.

Data lansării filmului a fost de mai multe ori amânată din cauza pandemiei. După premiera, în ziua de Crăciun, a lungmetrajului „Wonder Woman 1984”, „Godzilla vs. Kong” este una dintre următoarele superproducții pe care Warner Bros. le va lansa simultan în cinematografe și pe platforma de streaming HBO Max, potrivit Variety.

Legendary Pictures, producătorul filmului „Godzilla vs. Kong”, a anunțat inițial proiectul în 2015, ca un eveniment crossover între francizele „Godzilla” și „King Kong”. Între timp au fost lansate peliculele „Godzilla”, în 2014, „Kong: Skull Island”, în 2017, și „Godzilla: King of the Monsters”, în 2019. Adam Wingard, celebru pentru filme de groază precum „Death Note” și „Blair Witch”, a regizat noul lungmetraj, în care joacă Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall și Brian Tyree Henry, printre alții.

Noua superproducție va fi lansată în mijlocul pandemiei, iar cinefilii au opțiunea de a o viziona acasă, pe HBO Max, sau în cinematografe, deși multe sunt încă închise, astfel încât potențialul de box-office rămâne sub semnul întrebării. Filmul are același buget de 160 de milioane de dolari ca „Godzilla”, care a avut încasări de 524,9 milioane de dolari la nivel mondial în 2014. „Kong: Skull Island” a încasat 566 de milioane de dolari, în timp ce „Godzilla: King of the Monsters” a vândut bilete de 386 de milioane de dolari. Ținând cont de atracția exercitată la nivel internațional de franciză și faptul că multe țări derulează deja campanii de vaccinare anti-COVID-19, va fi interesant de văzut dacă noul film va trece pragul de 160 de milioane de dolari.
