Continuarea filmului „Knives Out” al lui Rian Johnson va avea premiera mondială la Festivalul Internațional de Film de la Toronto din 2022, au confirmat organizatorii evenimentului miercuri.

Daniel Craig își va relua rolul detectivului maestru Benoit Blanc în „Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”. Netflix aduce franciza „Knives Out 2” la Toronto, o destinație frecventă pentru filmele sale de festival într-o perioadă în care gigantul de streaming video se confruntă cu o concurență crescută din partea rivalilor precum Disney+ cu oferte Marvel și Star Wars și HBO Max cu oferte DC.

Găzduirea unei lansări pe covorul roșu pentru „Knives Out 2” face parte din acțiunea de redresare a TIFF după perioada pandemiei, pe măsură ce festivalul de marcă revine la rădăcinile sale de dinaintea crizei COVID-19 pentru cea de-a 47-a ediție – cu participare fizică, cu vedetele de la Hollywood pe covorul roșu și cu fani care aplaudă în aer liber și în cinematografe.

Distribuția „Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” îi include și pe Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson și Dave Bautista. În continuare, detectivul Benoit Blanc călătorește în Grecia pentru a îndepărta straturile unui mister care implică o nouă serie de suspecți.

Johnson a scris scenariul, va regiza și, de asemenea, va produce împreună cu Ram Bergman. „Knives Out” a fost lansat în 2019, încasând 311,4 milioane de dolari la box office cu un buget de 40 de milioane de dolari.

Johnson, care a câștigat o nominalizare la Oscar în 2020 pentru scenariul „Knives Out”, a început să lucreze la scenariul pentru continuarea la scurt timp după lansarea primului film.
