Demi Lovato started off her hosting duties on the People’s Choice Awards with a bang! During her opening monologue, host Lovato, 28, poked fun at her eventful year, which included calling off her engagement to Max Ehrich in September. "I am so excited to be here tonight because honestly this year has been the longest three years of my life," the singer said as she reflected on some of her biggest moments from the start of the year. "Don't get me wrong, it started out amazing. I performed at the Grammys and sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl. But then, COVID hit, and everything shut down." She then quipped: "So I did what everyone else did, I went into lockdown mode, and got engaged," referring to Ehrich's proposal in July. Lovato then went on to jokingly share a list of the ways she kept busy over the next few months. "I got into painting, photography, meditation, tested the limits of post mates unlimited. Also, I didn't know this could happen, but reached the end of Instagram four times. I binged seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars, got unengaged, then went looking for aliens in the desert,” she continued. "So basically the same as everyone else," she joked. Actrița și cântăreața Demi Lovato a acceptat să joace într-o serie de comedie, „Hungry”, ce va fi filmată cu o singură cameră și va fi difuzată de postul TV american NBC.

Proiectul urmărește povestea unor prieteni care fac parte dintr-un grup de oameni ce au o relație nu tocmai bună cu mâncarea și care se ajută reciproc să găsească dragostea, succesul, dar și cea mai bună mâncare din frigider care să completeze tabloul perfect din viața lor.

Demi Lovato a suferit și ea în viața reală de tulburări de alimentație, potrivit Billboard.

Demi Lovato, carieră în muzică și în film

Pe lângă rolul principal din proiect, Lovato este și producător executiv al show-ului, iar scenariul este semnat Suzanne Martin, care a fost și producător executiv pentru serialul “Frasier”. Cel mai recent proiect în care s-a implicat Martin a fost show-ul “Will & Grace” difuzat de NBC.

Pe lângă cariera de cântăreață, Demi Lovato este și actriță. Ea a devenit cunoscută cu rolul din “Camp Rock”, o producție originală Disney, și a apărut în mai multe episoade ale seriei “Will & Grace”. Totodată, artista a jucat în „Grey’s Anatomy”, “From Dusk Til Dawn: The Series” și “Glee”. A lansat până în prezent șase albume de studio, cel mai recent fiind “Tell Me You Love Me”, din 2017.
